We are Graeme & Marianne Giles, your hosts at Rambla Retreats. Joining us are our two friendly dogs, Bonnie & Clyde, and a collection of four elusive cats: Deano, TJ, Lulu & Bob, not to mention our many named chickens.
In July 2021, we embarked on a new chapter of our lives, drawn to the enchanting charm of Rambla de Oria after countless visits. Our quest for a forever home and a new venture led us to explore just three properties, and it was love at first sight when we discovered our old cortijo, Cortijo No sé qué. Perched high on the slopes of Rambla de Oria, it offers captivating views up and down the valley, albeit with a cautionary note during heavy rains. More on that later.
Rambla Retreats apartments are nestled within the expansive 25-acre grounds of our cortijo. Overlooking our olive grove and fruit trees, these accommodations are situated atop the Rambla de Oria in the Province of Almeria. With breathtaking vistas of the surrounding countryside and convenient access from both the main road and the rambla, our location is a true gem.
Transforming derelict outbuildings over 18 months, we've created four exquisite self-catering apartments. Guests can relish shared outdoor spaces, terraces, a welcoming bar area, and the delights of our pool and hot-tub.

Just a brief 10-minute drive will take you to Oria, while a mere 15-minute jaunt lands you in the larger town of Albox. Both offer an array of bars, restaurants, supermarkets, and assorted stores.
For beach enthusiasts, the stunning shores, Mojacar, Garrucha, and Vera are a mere 45-minute drive away. More info about the area here
At Rambla Retreats we've taken sustainability to heart, with a complete solar system providing electricity and hot water. Additionally, we've reclaimed extensive agricultural land with the construction of four expansive stone wall terraces, which will soon be home to fruit trees, vegetables, and secluded seating areas where guests can savour the awe-inspiring views.
La casa es maravillosa en un entorno muy bonito y diferente a lo que sueles ver. La rambla donde está la casa está llena de huertas y árboles frutales. Se respira tranquilidad y las vistas desde la piscina son preciosas. Por la noche corre la brisa y no hace mucho calor para ser Almeria. Nos ha sorprendido mucho la zona. Volveremos! Agosto 2025 The house is wonderful in a very beautiful and different environment from what you usually see. The rambla where the house is located is full of orchards and fruit trees. You can breathe tranquility and the views from the pool are beautiful. At night the breeze blows and it's not too hot for Almeria. We were very surprised by the area. We'll be back! August 2025
